Imagine visiting an
event and hearing the daily conversations of citizens of the 1860's, seeing the clothing
of all classes of society, smelling the scents of herbs or cook pots, or being moved to
tears by a story teller who can take you back to that moment in the past.
This is the richness that the Michigan Soldiers' Aid Society brings. The Michigan Soldiers' Aid Society meets monthly to:
- Listen to speakers presentations on all aspects of the war
- Discuss issues of battlefield preservation and raise money for
those various projects
- Diseminate information on local, state and national Civil War news
- Listen to members critique latest Civil War books, movies, videos
& TV programs
- Recommend Civil War sites to visit and where reenactments are
occuring
It shall be the policy of the Michigan Soldiers' Aid Society
to provide equal membership opportunities to all eligible persons without regard to race,
religion, color, national origin, citizenship, age, sex, marital status, parental status,
handicap, membership in a labor organization, and political affiliation.
Look for us at Greenfield Village, the Michigan History Museum,
Shaker Village at Pleasant Hill, KY, and at many local, regional and national Civil War
events. |
